A decree by US President Donald Trump about refusing to provide asylum to illegal migrants from Mexico was blocked by a federal judge in San Francisco.
Judge John Tigar made the decision after he familiarized himself with the arguments of the lawyers of the American Civil Liberties Union and the Center for the Protection of Constitutional Rights. According to the Associated Press, the lawyers demanded that Trump’s decree be recognized as a violation of human rights.
They stressed that they do not support illegal migration, however, even people who have entered the US illegally, according to lawyers, should not be prohibited from applying for asylum.
US President Donald Trump signed a decree banning the granting of asylum to illegal migrants on November 9. The American leader said that this measure was taken to ensure that migrants requested asylum at designated points of entry.
