New York will ban discrimination on gender identity and conversion therapy for people with non-traditional orientation

The documents have already passed the Senate and Assembly on Tuesday, January 15, 2019.

Both issues were a priority for Democrats, but were forgotten in the Senate until this year. When the Democrats seized control of The house of representatives after the results of the elections in November last year, and the old issues began to be resolved.

Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo is expected to sign both bills.

A ban on conversion therapy will prohibit licensed therapists from trying to change the sexual orientation of minors. Fourteen States have already passed similar laws.

The anti-discrimination bill prohibits the deprivation of employment, housing, public premises or education on the basis of gender expression or perception.
